Join the next WBI Collaborative Build!

Published September 8, 2021 By Megan Lum | 0 Comments

It’s almost time for BrickCon, and like last year, we’re hosting a collaborative build! Many thanks to WBI members Kat Sipe (@drkatbuilds) and Naomi Takeuchi (@brickanista) for coordinating everything. Interested in participating? Naomi explains how to join below:

1) We’ll be using tan plates for the bottom of the aquarium so the base of your MOC/MOD should be either 8×8 or 8×16 plates in tan.

2) Here are some examples:

A) This MOD of the crab from the Sea Creatures 3-in-1 set has been recolourized to represent the Maryland Blue Crab. You can see it fits in the profile of an 8×8 tan plate. It is not mounted, and that is okay. 😎

MODs of the Fish from the Fish Tank Set that Kat posted earlier are mounted with plant life on an 8×16 tan base in a horizontal fashion. (Landscape mode)

C) This MOC of a Seahorse is mounted on an 8×16 tan plate in a vertical fashion (portrait mode).

3) When these are assembled, the aquarium starts to take shape!

4) To participate in the WBI Aquarium Collab, take a photo of your creations similar to what is shown here and please include a caption. You can send them to me physically or digitally by Sept. 22nd, 2021 at 11:59pm PT (UTC-7).

Kat and I will be meeting on Sept. 23rd to compile everything together and work on the backdrop and adjust mounting these for a cohesive collab. We have a little buffer if the post is late, and we will plan to file this in the Art Section for BrickCon 2021, Oct. 1-3, 2021!

If sending digitally, please send an email to brickanista (at) gmail (dot) com with the subject line “WBI Aquarium”. If sending my Postal Mail, please provide return postage if you want the MOC returned to you. Please send me a PM for the mailing address. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions. If you would like building a bigger MOC, that is okay as long as you stay within the 8×16 base. We are looking forward to seeing this come together!!!

Thanks so much to Naomi and Kat for pulling this together!
